After working several months under the name Pearls Unlimited, members in the Itta Bena, Mississippi area received their official name Kappa Alpha Omega Chapter on March 16, 1974.

Kappa Alpha Omega has a strong history of giving services to its communities.  For many years, the Chapter has been actively involved in the implementation of national and local programs that included the following: PIMS (Partnership in Mathematics & Science), Senior Citizens' Month activities, World Food Day, Economic Growth, and the Annual Family Picnic (formerly Black Family Picnic), Kappa Alpha Omega Literacy Institute, and Seasonal Wraps (formerly Kappa Alpha Omega Coat Day).

Kappa Alpha Omega will continue to be the beckon for positive change in our communities by implementing the five targets under the theme Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service and the leadership of our newly installed International President Glenda Glover.
